The paternal house of Eleftherios Venizelos or, as it is called, the house of Halepa. The house that was the roof of his life for thirty years was bombed by the Germans in 1941, who used it as headquarters and residence of the respective German Commander of the Fortress of Crete. After its release the house passed on to his children until 2002 when it was bought by the State and now houses the Eleftherios Venizelos Foundation, as a museum and place of historical memory. Its current form reflects the transformations made by Venizelos and everything bears his personal stamp while maintaining the original form such as furniture, paintings, ornaments, original photographs, personal items of significant value to him and his wife.
